My name is Iain Stirling and I'm a professionally qualified freelance shooting instructor.
I live in Arundel, West Sussex with my wife, Lucie, where we own and run Arden House B&B , a warm and friendly guest house situated just a few minutes walk from the town centre and Arundel Castle. Shooting is my enduring passion and I have been involved with the sport for 30+ years, shooting and instructing both codes i.e. clay and game, and I still compete in FITASC, Sportrap, Compact Sporting, Sporting and EuroTrap when time permits.
Most of my time is spent at Southdown Gun Club in Findon, West Sussex (www.southdowngunclub.co.uk), where I work as Senior Instructor. Southdown Gun Club offers every conceivable target. Including Sporting (12 stands two traps per stand) Corporate (6 stands two traps per stand), English Skeet, DTL (Down the line), FITASC and Sportrap layouts, grouse butts, low, medium and high towers, enabling us to replicate anything you may be having trouble with, or want to hone your skills on.
Alternatively, I would be pleased to offer instruction at your preferred location if the ground permits, or on a private local estate, where personalised instruction and training can be given.
Go to the "Services" page for details of our informative and practical Shotgun Skills: An introduction to Shooting 1-day course.
I have a wide range of coaching experience, from first time shooters and novices through to experienced competition shooters, and am able to tailor any session to suit your particular needs - whether you're booking your first "have-a-go" individual or group session, or would like me to coach you on a 1-2-1 basis or shared session. I have instructed people of all ages ranging from 8 to 88 and firmly believe that there are absolutely no barriers to entering and really enjoying this increasingly popular sport.
Having worked as Senior Instructor at Southdown Gun Club since 2015, I have now instructed well over a 1,000 individual clients on a 1-2-1 basis, along with shared lessons. I have also led many group and 'Have-a-Go' sessions.
As the CPSA's senior tutor for the South East of England, I deliver CPSA accredited Safety Officer courses at the NRA (National Rifle Association) Bisley and ‘Shotgun Skills Courses’ Modules 1 & 2, along with co-delivering Young Shot Days, The Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club events, and Talent Pool days at Southdown Gun Club.
Seeing people develop and enjoy our wonderful sport is, for me, a real passion and true labour of love. I pride myself on being able to work with a wide range people by building empathy, trust, understanding and confidence, regardless of their level of skill or experience. Working alongside clients on their journey from first-time shooting to perhaps their first registered competition shoot and beyond, is greatly rewarding.
So whatever your experience level, need or desire around shooting, please complete the enquiry form or call me, and I will be only too pleased to discuss how we can work together, and to tailor a package to meet your personal needs.
I offer extremely competitive rates for training and instruction, and I'm always happy to offer free advice and guidance around shooting and equipment.
I very much look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best Wishes
Iain Stirling AICSI
